Krista, after reading your review I can not express how terrible I feel. I have spent 10 years building Key Auctions, conducting over 200 sales and have built a reputation for being honest and for providing customer satisfaction, first and foremost! We have always gone the extra mile by treating our customers with respect and honesty. I'm sorry to see you had a terrible experience at our January auction. These kinds of comments we have NEVER had…quite the opposite. After going through our files of that auction I have found no record of you registering and therefore no number by which to contact you. However, I would like to take this time to reply to the concerns you expressed in your review.
    1. Misinformation you claim… we are not experts in everything but we are very knowledgeable in the antique world. We are known for our honesty, a reputation we have earned over the past ten years as we’ve always tried very hard to do our best to describe all we know about every item, whether it's the age or the condition. I can tell you that in the ten years we’ve been doing business it is very rare that someone has been unhappy with an item or found a chip on something. Even though our terms indicate that there are no guarantees and items are sold as is where is, terms which are clearly stated at the start of the auction and on each bidding card, terms which are no different from any auction house, if on a rare occasion a customer has been unhappy with an item, we would take it back even though they know the terms and have been encouraged to preview everything. Customer satisfaction is first and foremost!
    2. Disputed bids… again you will find out by reading the terms on the bidding card that in the case of a disputed bid the auctioneer has the right to re auction the item, again no different from any other auction house). On this occasion you claimed about 5 different times…this would be my mistake and a rare occasion but in a 6 hour auction that sold over 500 items with a hall of 500 people spread out, this can happen. Mistakes are made and if there is confusion in the bid, the bidding will only open up to the 2 people in the dispute and not the whole crowd.
    3. Auctioneer bidding against some one….The auctioneer is not bidding against someone. He is actually bidding for someone….that someone is an absentee bidder who has registered a bid on an item that they have either seen on the website and/or have come to the auction and left an absentee bid as they were unable to stay. We have established markets in Miramichi, Fredericton, Saint John, Sussex, and Shediac with numerous clients from around the Maritimes calling and leaving bids in every auction. Going into any of our auctions, we can have up to 50+ absentee bids.

I hope this helps to explain a few things that upset you. If you have any further questions, please call us!
    Thanks for your time,
    Jared D Steeves
